HP W2338H 23-Inch Widescreen Monitor only took roughly 3 minutes to unbox, change the stand, and cable to power as well as the VGA & audio ports on my docking station. Following a few previous advice noticed in other reviews, I powered down my laptop and didn’t boot before new display was at place and powered up.
My laptop is definitely an HP nc6400 business workhorse running WinXP. I booted-up docked with all the laptop lid shut, also it was quite satisfied with the external w2338h. I placed the brand new display drivers from the included CD.
This is the most breathtaking display I’ve ever seen, bar none. It sits about 16.5″ high, therefore it fits perfectly under my 18″ hutch. The built-in speakers fire out the back which is fine as the back of my hutch bounces it back toward me. Effortlessly due respect with other reviews, the speakers are certainly not that bad. Though not worth a property theater, the built-in speakers are certainly adequate for normal “PC” sound plus they beat the built-in speakers on my laptop for sure.
The display coating is glossy vs. matte. This gives exceptionally vibrant colors and sharp resolution. Additionally , it means you’ll potentially see reflections from lighted objects behind you, but it takes most of about Thirty seconds for your brain to begin ignoring those. Having one of these much screen real-estate rocks !. The display has standard lock slot in the back which I’ve pressed into service to ensure the wife doesn’t “reallocate” my new display.
I have not tried the HDMI input yet and in all probability won’t in the future, so I can’t attest to display behavior using HDMI. With all the VGA input, the display fills every pixel without black frame or letterbox.
