Kinect Completes The Motion Trinity

Let battle commence! The motion control war has only just begun with the release of Xbox 360 Kinect, with Microsoft hoping to gain ground quickly on Sony’s Playstation Move controller and Nintendo’s long-established Wii console. Microsoft are showing characteristic confidence though, and they anticipate 5 million sales in the holiday period, after having previously announced they were expecting a conservative 3 million..

No matter where your loyalties lie, the full range of motion control titles are available for the new devices with the high-definition, high quality presentation they deserve.. Kinect Sports faces off against Move’s Sports Champions and both games have the full quota of running, swatting, jumping and bashing events that make motion control so appealing. There are plenty of titles on each platform dedicated to your favourite sports, with golf, tennis and general fitness games meaning you may as well cancel your gym membership. Want to strut your funky stuff instead? Both controllers have a smattering of body-shaking dance titles in their libraries: Kinect’s Dance Central throws down some beats with Sony’s SingStar Dance during launch week.

One innovation that Kinect and Playstation Move (when paired with Eyetoy) have over Wii at the moment is the number and range of camera-enabled titles. The two peripherals competently match each other’s ambition: if Eyepet’s simian/gremlin isn’t your idea of a pet, maybe playing fetch and fluffing the fur of the cubs of Kinectimals will be more your thing. And upcoming multi-platform title Yoostar 2 will put you and your friends in the starring role of your favourite movie scenes.

with these and many more titles in the pipeline, there has never been a better way to invest in the longevity of your machine. If hand-flailing and movement isn’t entirely your thing, perhaps the inclusion of Kinect and Move exclusive modes in your favourite upcoming games will get your attention. Kinect will see Forza Motorsport 4, Kinect Star Wars and Sonic Free Riders whilst Sony plans to intergrate Move into Killzone 3, Infamous 2 and Little Big Planet 2 .
